Talking About Disabilities

Key questions to ask disabled participants who are new to your sessions

As in all coaching, to work effectively with disabled people, you must meet their specific needs and aspirations in sport by recognising them as individuals.

The following questions are some that you may need to discuss with your participants – not all will be necessary, and you may think of others.

You may recognise that a lot of these questions relate to all new participants and not just new disabled participants.

They should become part of your standard practice when meeting a new performer you are about to coach.
