Enjoy a Change of Scenery: Train Outdoors!

Fitness coach Sarah Winn is keen for more personal trainers to take their clients or classes outdoors. She provides a quick run-down of the benefits and some suggestions for using the environment to your advantage

Fresh air, open space and (if you’re lucky) sunshine – what’s not to love about outdoor training during the summer? If you’ve been training indoors throughout the winter months, training outdoors provides a welcome change of new surroundings, new visual stimulation and a fresh approach to training sessions – not just for your clients, but for you as a trainer. 

There are some challenges, of course, such as:

  • weather 
  • ground conditions 
  • dogs running around!

But you also have the opportunity to get creative with your sessions, such as by incorporating different elements more suited to the new environment.
