This version of the Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport renewal course includes the core refresher module plus the Safeguarding Deaf and Disabled Children module.

Developed in partnership with the NSPCC’s Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) the Deaf and Disabled Children in Sport pathway, is a convenient way for you to refresh, consolidate and update your understanding of safeguarding with a focus on how you can make sport safe for children with a condition or impairment - at a time to suit you*.

Practice overcoming challenges faced by disabled children in sport

For £13.99 (ex VAT) our new style of online learning offers you the opportunity to learn-by-doing, making online decisions based on real-life stories and scenarios of disabled children in sport, so that you can see the consequences of those decisions in a safe environment.

By putting you at the heart of the action, letting you practice your decision-making skills in a virtual environment and giving you the space to try again – as many times as you want - without fear of anyone looking over your shoulder, it will help you gain a deeper, longer-lasting understanding.

You'll also get access to a bank of tools, tips and resources that you can start using straight away.

After completing the Safeguarding Deaf and Disabled Children in Sport module you’ll then get access the refresher module, where on completion you will be able to download your certificate of completion.

*Important Reminder Most governing bodies of sport recommend coaches refresh their safeguarding training at regular intervals (eg every three years). Please check with your governing body for clarification.

Full course details

  • The eLearning is suitable for you if you’re a coach, student, sports official, sport leader, parent or volunteer, aged 18 or over and have already attended the ‘Safeguarding and Protecting Children’ (SPC1) workshop.

    As it is a refresher course, it is not appropriate if you have not had previous safeguarding training or are under 18. Most governing bodies of sport recommend coaches refresh their safeguarding training at regular intervals (eg every three years)*.

    * Check with your governing body of sport for further information, and to ascertain whether or not it recognises completing the eLearning as an appropriate way to renew your safeguarding training.

  • The course should take around 1 hour 30 minutes, but there's nothing to stop you leaving and finishing at your convenience.

  • You have access to the course for 12-months after enrollment.

  • Our experienced advisors are on hand should you need any help with navigating through the course.

  • For the best experience, we recommend you complete it on a desktop.

    If you have a visual impairment, we have designed the course to work with screen readers.

    There are some videos in the course that feature audio, which we have included transcripts for to aid people with hearing impairments.
